What is our music saying?

If music is the voice of the people, then what they are saying right now is kinda sad, that's just my opinion.
I mean if we go decade by decade, each sound was unique to its generation, and it captured the era in its sound. I’ll start with the 60s, all most if the music defined that era, free love, hippies, rock n roll, and the cusp of punk and funk, the music told you what the people were going though, if you closed you eyes and listened, you could see what it looked like back then. Then came the 70s, rock n roll, disco, jazz, punk rock, rhythm and blues, and soul, again you could see how the world looked. Now we hit the 80s, the birth of rap and hip hop, electronic, death metal, glam rock and of course those great one hit wonders, all the personalities out there, you could see the colors when you closed your eyes, see how wild the 80s musta been. Now we’re in the 90s, you have grunge, which led to the death of glam rock, gangster rap, and all the collaborating and crossing over. you see what the people were reaching for, and a few actually achieved their goal.
I mean you could add so much more to each decade, these are just a few quick things that popped into my head while I was writing this, but when you listen to the music of each decade, you get an image of that time, you get a certain feel from that era. All of those voices and sound came from the people and it showed you a glimpse of into their world. it showed you how they lived, their struggles, their victories, and yes, their losses.  So if you think about that, the music that is out now must give us a really ugly image. Kinda sad, because in my head, the image that I get is its people over glamorizing or bragging over senseless things. Coming off extremely selfish, having no sense of humor, not being able to laugh at ones self. Oh and let’s not forget about the whiners and complainers. I don’t know, as of right now, I am shedding a tear and laughing my ass off because this is a very sad time for us. If you don’t agree with me, just listen to the radio or watch television for 2-4 hours, and then you tell me what you see.
